Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate with 5 passe or Leaving Cert Applied. Mature students will be considered based on a proven interest in the caring profession. Entry may be subject to interview/assessment & depends on satisfactory completion of an induction programme & Garda Vetting.

Child Development Art & Craft for Childcare Computer Applications    
Working in Childcare Understanding Special Needs Information Technology Skills/Data Entry    
Caring for Children 0-6 Work Experience Communications    
Understanding Special Needs        
Certification        
FETAC (NCVA) Level 5 Award (DCHSC) - Further Education & Training Awards Council    
First Aid Certificate - Irish Red Cross/ Order of Malta    
     
Duration    
One Year - Full Time Study or Two Years Part time - min of 4 modules per year    
     
Course Structure    
Work Experience within arange of childcare settings forms an integral part of the course.    
Career Options/Progression    
Holders of a FETAC (NCVA) Level 5 Certificate in ChildCare may enter employment in creches, play schools, special needs or a classroom assistant. You may also progress to further study at Institutes of Technology/Universities. Alternatively if you have sufficient practical experience in childcare you may also progress to the FETAC(NCVA) Level 6 Supervision in Childcare programme.
   
     
Evaluation    
You wil be evaluated by examination,practical skills tests, project work and practical First Aid exam
