There are many routes to a job and career-success. Increasingly, further education and training are required. Monaghan Institute of Further Education and Training offers a wide range of PLC courses - 31 in all, depending on take-up. Each course is specifically designed for employment - the balance between the theoretical and practical study is decided with the job-market firmly in focus. On the other hand, if a student wishes to proceed to further studies at Institutes of Technology or Universities (a number of recent graduates are now on degree courses) MIFET courses will equip him/her for the academic life.

MIFET staff are highly-qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated to high academic achievement in the context of a warm tutor-student relationship. Work experience keeps both students and staff attuned to the realities of modern business/ industry/commerce. Our computer centres and multi-media laboratory are of the most advanced design and equipment. The Student Union’s social programme ensures balanced student development.

Being a small institution MIFET can give the kind of individual attention which ensures success. Small does not mean isolated - the Institute has had a link-up with Pontypridd College of Further Education in Wales and we are currently developing constructive contacts with Stranmillis University College, the University of Ulster and neighbouring Institutes of Technology. MIFET students have also completed modules of their courses at institutions in Belgium, France, Holland, Portugal, Germany, Canada and more recently Denmark.
